Site Licence - Terms and Conditions of use 2009
This licence sets out the terms on which we, the Society for General Microbiology, are prepared to licence SGM Journals Online.
1. The person using SGM Journals Online may view, reproduce or store copies of articles comprising the journal provided that the articles are used only for their personal, non-commercial use. Uses beyond that allowed by the "Fair Use" limitations (sections 107 and 108) of the U.S. Copyright law require permission of the publisher.
2. For permissions to copy beyond that permitted by the U.S. Copyright Law and for reprints, contact the Copyright Clearance Center.
3. Any uses and or copies of these journals in whole or in part must include the customary bibliographic citation, including author attribution, date, article title, the journal name, and the journal URL at sgmjournals.org and MUST include a copy of the copyright notice.
4. Accounts and/or passwords may not be shared.
Disclaimer of Warranties
In no event shall Society for General Microbiology or Stanford University be liable for any special, incidental, indirect or consequential damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the use of the articles or other material derived from the journals, whether or not advised of the possibility of damage, and on any theory of liability.
This publication is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Descriptions of, or references to, products or publications do not imply endorsement of that product or publication.
SGM Journals Online are under development and changes may be made in these publications and programs at any time. There is no guarantee that the information contained in the online version of the journal is identical to the print version of the journal and neither the Society for General Microbiology nor Stanford University has any duty to update the information contained on the online version to correct errors or otherwise.
SGM reserves the right to change or amend these terms without prior notice.
Terms and Conditions for Payment and Ordering
Ordering
Orders can be placed directly with SGM at Marlborough House or through a subscription agent. Click here for details of how to order directly from SGM.
Payment and Currency
Cheque with order or an invoice (to be supplied on request).
Remittances should be made payable to 'Society for General Microbiology' and crossed 'A/C Payee Only'.
For orders outside the UK, the cheque must be drawn on a UK bank or include an allowance for all bank charges.
All prices are in UK Pounds Sterling and US Dollars. Payment for journals for delivery in USA, Canada or Mexico must be at the US dollar price and US Dollar cheques must be drawn on a US bank.
Prices and Despatch
Subscriptions start 1 January on a one-year basis.
Recognized agents will be allowed a 5% discount.
Prices include postage.
Value added tax - UK
Subscriptions in the EU may be subject to VAT. If you are registered, please supply your VAT number to avoid unnecessary charges.
Subscription Year
SGM Journals are calendar year subscriptions. Society for General Microbiology journal subscriptions begin 1 January and end 31 December.
SGM Journals are published monthly by Society for General Microbiology, Marlborough House, Basingstoke Road, Spencers Wood, Reading RG7 1AG, UK.
For late payments for current year print subscriptions, back issues to 1 January will be despatched with the next available current issue.
Cancellations
Print and online: cancellations of current year subscriptions are only accepted at the discretion of SGM. If accepted, they will commence from the date of advice and despatches made up to that date will be on a price per part basis. Online-only subscriptions will be on a pro rata basis. Reporting missing issues of your print journal
Claims for missing issues should be made immediately after the receipt of a subsequent issue, or within two months after the date of publication. Send an email to jsales{at}sgm.ac.uk and include your Customer Number; the journal title; the volume and issue number. Please allow up to 10 weeks for receipt of the replacement issue, depending on where you are.
