Ordering and Activation Procedures

Organizations must purchase an Online or Print plus Online subscription in order to access Society for General Microbiology (SGM) Journals content online. All online subscriptions will need to be activated by your library administrator before library users can access current full text content.

As an organizational subscriber, you can either order and pay through your subscription agent or contact SGM directly.

Once SGM has received payment, you will receive a note of your Customer Number and instructions for obtaining access to the online edition; the letter will direct you to an online form.

In order to activate your account you will need:
Your Customer Number
Your contact details; where possible, please provide an e-mail address that is not personal to you (e.g. library@institute.edu)
A Username and Password. This is for library administrator use only, and should not be passed on to your users
The IP addresses that you want to register. Please ensure that you register only the IP addresses authorized according to the terms of your licence. As online access can only be provided by IP recognition, it is important that you complete the second part of the registration process by adding your IPs

Subscriptions in 2010

From 2010, SGM will be moving to a tiered pricing structure. All current customers will receive a notification of their tier allocation in advance of renewals.

Both existing and new customers, or their subscription agent, can use the SGM Journal Tier Allocator to determine what type of licence they will need, which tier they fall under and therefore how much they would pay for their chosen subscription(s).

New customers can obtain a quote or request an invoice using the SGM Journal Tier Allocator.

Alternatively, you can complete the following form:

Current customers will NOT need to re-activate their account in 2010, but we do ask that they review our new terms and conditions.
