Summary of 2010 Pricing Model and Licences
The Society for General Microbiology (SGM) journals are moving to a tiered pricing structure in 2010. Within the new pricing model, institutions are classified into one of five tiers based on various attributes of size and type.
SGM Site Licences have also been updated, making it easier for customers to provide access across multiple locations within their organization. Therefore, customers will also need to consider what type of licence they require for access: tiers 1–3 qualify for a Basic Site Licence; tier 4 qualifies for a Basic or an Extended Basic Licence; and tier 5 qualifies for a Multi-Site/Consortia/Non-Standard Licence.
Current customers will receive notification of their allocation in advance of renewals. You can also use our Journal Tier Allocator to check your tier and licence requirements, or view the criteria below:
Site Licence Definitions and Options
A site licence is different from a physical 'site'. For example, a university with several separate campuses within the same city has several physical sites, but requires only a Basic Site Licence based on the definitions shown below.
Customers from tiers 1–4 access the journals according to the following site licence.
1. Basic Site licence (tiers 1–4 - set prices available)
2. Extended Basic Site Licence (tier 4 - set prices available)
3. Multi-Site, Consortia and Non-Standard Licence (tier 5 – customer to contact SGM for a quotation)
SGM reserves the right to issue Tier 5 customers with separate signed agreements for access to SGM Journals Online; however, in the absence of such an agreement, the following terms and conditions will apply. Please contact tiers{at}sgm.ac.uk or complete our request form.
